SolentSun
Solar for the Solent coast
Solent Sun designs and fits solar panels for homes around Hayling Island, Havant and the wider Solent. Straight answers, tidy installs and clear numbers, so you can decide what makes sense for your household at your own pace.
The numbers
Energy prices have moved a lot over the last few years. Rather than guess, here is where things stand now, using official Ofgem figures, so you can weigh up your options with clear information rather than headlines.
Source: Ofgem price cap history as published July 2026. Bills use Ofgem typical usage of 2,700 kWh electricity and 11,500 kWh gas.
What we fit
Every installation is specced after a survey, but most homes in our area land on one of these layouts. Prices are installed, at 0% VAT under current rules, and confirmed in writing before any work begins.

The process
We look at your roof, your bills and your daytime use. If solar won't suit your situation, we say so.
A panel layout, a generation estimate for your postcode, and a fixed written price.
Most house installs take a day with a small crew. We handle the paperwork and commission the inverter.
We set up a Smart Export Guarantee tariff and stay on hand for monitoring and health checks.
The journal
Short, plain-English guides based on published figures from Ofgem and the Energy Saving Trust. Balanced information to help you decide, with no pressure either way.
Talk it through
Leave your details and we'll give you a call to talk through your roof, your bills and whether solar could suit your home. No pressure and no obligation — if it isn't a fit, we'll tell you.
Most house installs are finished within a day; larger roofs or battery additions can take two. We arrange scaffolding and remove it the same week.
In most cases roof-mounted panels fall under permitted development in England. Listed buildings and conservation areas have extra rules, which we check with you during the survey.
Panels generate from daylight rather than heat. UK systems produce most of their energy between March and October, but a well-designed array still contributes through the winter months.
Surplus electricity is exported to the grid and paid under a Smart Export Guarantee tariff. Current market rates range from around 15p to 25p per kWh depending on the supplier and tariff.
Yes. The survey is a chance to look at your roof and your bills, and it ends with honest advice. You only go further if the written quote works for you.
