A small island company with a simple aim
Solent Sun is the trading name of Ashwood Solar LTD. We've worked from Hayling Island since 2022, fitting solar for the streets, bungalows and homes around us, under director Denton Green, who still visits every roof he quotes for.
Why we exist
We started to make the local sun useful
Energy prices have changed a great deal in recent years, and households have had to budget around numbers they can't control. At the same time, this stretch of coast records around 1,792 hours of sunshine a year, much of it landing on bare roof tiles.
We set the company up to connect those two facts, turning local daylight into electricity a household can plan around. Nothing more complicated than that.
We've stayed deliberately small and local. Every survey is done by someone who will be answerable for the installation, and every quote is written to be compared at your leisure, not rushed.
How we work
Three habits we keep
Numbers before enthusiasm
We start with your bills and your roof's orientation, not a sales script. If the numbers don't look reasonable for your situation, the survey ends with honest advice.
Everything in writing
Generation estimates, panel counts, inverter spec and the fixed price all appear in one document before work is booked. What you sign is what gets installed.
Postcode-level design
A roof in PO11 is not a roof in Manchester. We use southern-England yield figures and local sunshine records when we size systems.
The arc so far
From one van to a full survey-to-export service
- May 2022
Ashwood Solar LTD is registered and starts work from Havant Road, Hayling Island, fitting panels for neighbours and word-of-mouth referrals.
- 2023
As energy prices rise nationwide, enquiries grow. We formalise our survey process and written-quote format.
- 2024–2025
Battery storage and EV-ready designs join the range. We begin handling Smart Export Guarantee registrations as standard.
- 2026
We publish our plain-English journal and open our survey diary across the wider Solent coast.
